Wake, BC, and Tulane just won’t impress potential employers or carry much prestige in social circles. They just don’t. BC is ranked top 10 in finance and investment banking majors in the country. Tulane and Wake alums I know also are all very successful and have connections.
I have no idea about prestige in social circles (who cares), but my Tulane DC got a ton of interviews for summer internships while in school based solely on the name of school and alum connections. It has a really good reputation in NYC finance/marketing/PR. So I think you have no idea what you are talking about. Graduated within the last 2 years and currently working in NYC post-grad with so many other Tulane kids. Employers do like Tulane grads. Generally, they are smart and socially adept.
First I agree that these are all good schools. Second, i think most disagreement comes from the changes with time. 20 years ago, Tulane was among top universities but the ranking declined now. Similarly, WashU and Emory used to be in top 10 in 1990 and now after 20th. The opposite examples are USC and Northeastern. 20-30 years ago, there was no way to put them along with elite schools, but now you see how hard to get in. Things are changing except for HYPM. So for school out of HYPM, it’s more important to see what you want and what it offers instead of comparing prestige.
