BC is very special if you plan on staying in Boston.   If you’re staying in the Virginia area maybe W&M might be better.  Definitely better name recognition in the Virginia area.

Boston College is considered a Tier 1 school, categorized as a Carnegie R1 institution.  William and Mary is a Tier 2 school.

If these things matter to you William and Mary admit twice as many students as BC does.

In Boston you will meet a much larger group of students from all over the world.  Within a ten mile radius you have BU, Emerson, Suffolk, MIT, Harvard, Emmanuel, Tufts plus smaller schools.

William and Mary is more isolate.  You miss out in the cultural events that come to Cambridge and Boston.  Relevant speakers at all the colleges that you might like to go to.

I think it comes down to the lifestyle that best suits the student.  Both schools are more than capable of giving you a top education.  [/quote]
