It is insanity. There is already talk about whether illegals get birthright citizenship anyway. The text reads, "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." An argument could be made that illegal immigrants are subject to the jurisdiction of their home country and not the US, and therefore are not entitled to birthright citizenship.

But either way it needs to be changed to make it clear that illegal immigrants will not have citizen children. It is too big of an incentive for them to come, and then use the children as an anchor to stay, as evidenced by all of these threads on the topic. [/quote]
