This is why birthright citizenship needs to end. This woman gave birth while she was already under final order to leave. Why are they citizens? The law needs to change due to abuse like this. Ten years!!!!
It is insanity. There is already talk about whether illegals get birthright citizenship anyway. The text reads, "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." An argument could be made that illegal immigrants are subject to the jurisdiction of their home country and not the US, and therefore are not entitled to birthright citizenship.
But either way it needs to be changed to make it clear that illegal immigrants will not have citizen children. It is too big of an incentive for them to come, and then use the children as an anchor to stay, as evidenced by all of these threads on the topic.

"Speeding, driving without insurance and driving without a license". Are you sympathizers good with having your families on the road with someone like this? This is a person who doesn't care about the laws of our country.

How is the child punished? 7 pages of rant but no one so far volunteered to bring the child back and adopt the child. This is how much you care for that child.
They don't want someone else to adopt the child. They want illegal mom to be given a free pass for legal residency and free healthcare despite doing nothing to earn either.
No, we expect people use their common sense and allow a mother to stay in the country with her child while she is receiving life saving care, or at least give the mother an opportunity to talk with her husband and doctors before making a decision on whether to leave without her.

The US Citizen child has stage 4 cancer and lost access to medical care. That means they'll likely not live much longer. But ICE will be able to notch up its targets by deporting the child's mother, so the US citizen child can spend their last days in confusion and agony. Jesus would not approve.

My husband and I are really debating this right now...can we afford it? Is it fair to have children in light of all the chaos the world is in? If I were in another country illegally, the last thing I would be doing is thinking about having kids. Sometimes I legitimately think I am crazy for weighing this decision so much.
That being said, I really do think an exception or arrangement of some sort should've been made for this poor woman, and of course her child who is blameless in all this.
That is so funny that you said that because I had the opposite thought. I’m a U.S. citizen. I though, damn if Switzerland was just handing out citizenships by popping out a kid, I’d have my husband reverse his vasectomy tomorrow and I’d be planning my “short vacation” to Switzerland in 9 months.
HAH! I’m the PP and I feel you! If it was a guarantee, then sure, but it definitely does not seem to be a guarantee in the US that have kid here = you are citizen.
