“When she was taken into ICE custody in April 2025, she chose to bring both children -- who are American citizens -- with her to Honduras and presented a valid United States passport for each child.”
The children have US passports and can come back any time. No mention of where the father is but maybe they can stay with him.
Wow! “Final order of deportation in 2015!” So she deliberately evaded authorities for a decade after that. A decade. Of knowingly being here illegally.
And at least one of these children was born well after this ‘final order’.
Both were. They are 4 and 7 per the article. Final order was given 10 years ago and she has been evading ever since.
This is why birthright citizenship needs to end. This woman gave birth while she was already under final order to leave. Why are they citizens? The law needs to change due to abuse like this. Ten years!!!!

Stop rationalizing the evil before it’s too late for you.
Yes. Every day and twice on Sunday. She made the choice to jump the border and drop an anchor baby. That kid does not convey legal status to his mom.
So we punish the child for the sins of the mother? How Christian of you.
How is the child punished? 7 pages of rant but no one so far volunteered to bring the child back and adopt the child. This is how much you care for that child.
They don't want someone else to adopt the child. They want illegal mom to be given a free pass for legal residency and free healthcare despite doing nothing to earn either.
No, we expect people use their common sense and allow a mother to stay in the country with her child while she is receiving life saving care, or at least give the mother an opportunity to talk with her husband and doctors before making a decision on whether to leave without her.
I’d love some of you people who present to the world as holier than thou Catholics like JD Vance, to try imagining making your arguments to Jesus.
The US Citizen child has stage 4 cancer and lost access to medical care. That means they'll likely not live much longer. But ICE will be able to notch up its targets by deporting the child's mother, so the US citizen child can spend their last days in confusion and agony. Jesus would not approve.

My husband and I are really debating this right now...can we afford it? Is it fair to have children in light of all the chaos the world is in? Would either of us be able to get more flexibility at work? Is our house in a good enough school district, and if not, can we afford alternative options? Can we afford to pay for college?
If I were in another country illegally, the last thing I would be doing is thinking about having kids. Sometimes I legitimately think I am crazy for weighing this decision so much.
That being said, I really do think an exception or arrangement of some sort should've been made for this poor woman, and of course her child who is blameless in all this.
That is so funny that you said that because I had the opposite thought. I’m a U.S. citizen. I though, damn if Switzerland was just handing out citizenships by popping out a kid, I’d have my husband reverse his vasectomy tomorrow and I’d be planning my “short vacation” to Switzerland in 9 months.
