Why wouldn’t Greenland just deny their visas? Deny them entry. That would send a strong message.
Because the IS has a military base there (space force!) I do not care about first and second family member travel. It’s always happened and it should be diplomatic. I do care about her going at all in this specific case, and certainly while dragging a kid, to a country that is telling he not to come because it’s “highly aggressive”. That is not diplomacy. She shouldn’t go. And since there will be strong Anti-American protests in Greenland, she shouldn’t take the kid. That’s just decent parenting.
Was she ordered to go or is she fine with this? Who makes these kinds of decisions about where political spouses travel and what they do? Could she refuse this trip?
Real talk though: wouldn't you take any possible opportunity to get away from JD? I would... She's shady af, and problematic in her own right, but who wants to hang out with him if it's not absolutely mandatory?
I mean…she married the guy. I really have no sympathy for her.
+1. When you let Amy Chu arrange your marriage— at Yale Law School, FFS- you should go in with open eyes and clear head. She isn’t a victim here. The marriage was transactional, and presumably she is getting something out of the marriage. 2nd lady is no small thing. So is the couch-humper with guyliner. And she has plenty of education and earning capacity. She could have left the marriage up to the point JD became the VP pick (after that, I’m assuming MAGA would doxx and SWAT the he11 out of her and endanger her kids and Trump would go full mob boss, except now we do whack families). She’s an ambitious woman who made a choice. I’m a reasonably ambitious woman but also grew up in a dysfunctional family and never would have made the choice she did. Having a stable, functional, harmonious family with two co-equal adults and parents was too important to me. I married the guy who runs carpools. And purposefully mommy tracked as a Fed attorney to be present for kids. That was my choice. Part of feminism is allowing women to make these choices for themselves. I get to make mine, she gets to make hers. But, I don’t get to whine that I’m not a senior partner at Skadden Arp. My choices prevented that. Her choices means she has to live with a sleeve guy. No sympathy, because no one forced her into this arrangement. Also, if you must go, do not take a young child as a human shield/ excuse for complaining about protests in an unwelcoming environment. The President of Greenland has said very clearly she isn’t welcome. There will be protests. At the rate things are going, they may cancel the event to keep her away. Her decision to go, made in conjunction with the Trump Admin, is her prerogative as an adult. And she can deal with the fallout and protests. I think it’s a dumb move, because it makes Greenland less likely to cooperate the US on anything. And with global warming, it would be a good location for a new naval base and a port for ships using using new Arctic routes, amd that could be an actual accomplishment for the Trump Admin. I mean— a land war against NATO in Greenland. GMAFB. But, taking a small kid into a hostile country is cra&&y parenting. So is Elon Musk dragging kid #7 out of 14 around as a human shield (because they happen to be the cutest and best behaved of the brood), while ignoring his other 13 kids (or saying they are dead because they are trans)— also gross. Props to political parents like the Clintons, Obamas and Bush 2 who did what they could to protect their minor kids from political cr@p. JD goes on and on about parenting, but you can tell he values having kids as a status thing, not the actual work f parenting kids to become healthy adults. Gross.
