OP back again. Yes, indeed this has been an illuminating thread. Lots of people who say on other threads that both parties are the exact same thing. So I took them all at their word and have asked those people, as well as reliable Republicans, to make the case for why I, as a moderate, should vote for the GOP. We’re eight pages in and not one single Republican/Moderate/Independent has been able to make a case for their party. Lots of people pretending not to understand what I meant, lots of people halfway to insulting me, but not a one of you can make a cogent case for why I should cast a vote for a Republican candidate at any level.
Why should they bother? You were obviously disingenuous. I’m not voting Republican but wouldn’t answer you either.
+100000
And yet you couldn't bother to answer the question. It's not disingenuous. I don't even know what the GOP's platform is these days. What are you running on other than being against the Democrats?
I didn’t answer the question because I’m not voting Republican. But I can see why a true independent or moderate wouldn’t answer. It’s a disingenuous, borderline troll question. I don’t answer troll questions either.
I am a NP - and it doesn't sound disingenuous or borderline troll to me. I think Rs should be able to articulate a case for how they will make OP's life better. They obviously aren't suddenly going to become pro-choice environmentalists - it's not the 1970s, after all - but they should have an answer for any voter who asks: why should I, with my values and concerns, consider you? The only reason NOT to have an answer is if your only issues are culture war grievances, and you don't actually believe you have anything to offer to anyone else. Which doesn't say much about the party. I think Ds would have an answer to that. Obviously we're not going to give a curious R us banning books, throwing gays back in the closet, and murdering drug dealers at the border - but we should have an answer, even to partisan Rs, about how we will make their lives better, if they want to know.
