RFK! RFK! World class cities have sports venues. Why would we not want DC to become a world class city? This will dramatically benefit NE/SE DC over the long term. Nats park has been one of the biggest changes to the city. The area was foul before, now it is absolutely bustling. Nats park is a fantastic baseball experience -- i've been to every baseball stadium in the US.
No one gives a fck about your tourism hobby.
So you would rather have a huge opportunity go away because your broke ass hates billionaires? Sounds like it will happen so deal with it. It will increase revenue for the area, make it safer and increase property values in a depressed part of the city. Wins all around.
Literally spending the money on infrastructure and sticking a Target there would have a bigger economic impact on the city. Every economist knows this.
yes, but an NFL stadium brings tourism, opens DC up for larger concert venues, global events, other sporting venues (world cups, college bowls, etc) , its cultural addition versus a freakin target. Money talks and the people against the stadium will obviously lose. Get excited! Football in DC is coming back Bowser wants her legacy
There is no real public policy reason to support using tax dollars to build a 80K person stadium that will be used at most 20 times a year. 80K times 20 is 1.6M. Nats Park and Verizon Center draw far more during the year than a new football stadium ever will. Economic case not even close.
