Many of my R friends are more libertarian than anything else.  Social moderates and fiscal conservatives.  I think that trend will continue.  I think we just have to wait for some of the old people to die so that the younger crowd can regain control.  Although, it is also possible there will be a split in the party over the gay marriage issue.  I've seen a lot of my R friends clash with each other on Facebook over the NC Amendment.  It has been interesting to watch people I thought were pretty conservative argue against the current state of affairs.  Those folks are pretty disillusioned with their party right now.[/quote]
To me, it seems that the major question is whether marriage is about fucking or feelings.  I would think that a truly spiritual and conservative person would say (as many do), that love and commitment should be encouraged wherever they occur.[/quote]
