THIS. Anyone who hasn't lived this has NO IDEA, even if the relative has paid caregivers. And in OP's case, the brother isn't even done because the father is still alive and has his own host of issues![/quote]

+100. There’s no such thing as a reason I wouldn’t be at my parent’s funeral. None. No “trip of a lifetime” or “charity event.” Honestly…this thread is so sad in so many ways.[/quote]
