On Thursday morning our FT nanny/housekeeper told us that our daughter accidentally kicked her in the head as she was getting DD dressed for school. She asked for Tylenol but worked the full day, she also worked all day on Friday. At 4am on Monday her husband sent a text to say that she was ‘at the ER again’ and would not be coming to work. Last night she sent me a text to say she had just gotten home, that she has a concussion and is dizzy so she can’t work for at least a week. What would you do or think?
I would think she has a concussion. And wait til she is well enough to contact me for more info. I would find back up care or take time for weekdays prior to holiday and following week. I’d ask for a report for filing workmen’s compensation and make sure I understood that process. I would also ask her or the husband to keep me posted to understand healing timeline/prognosis. Only if she were unable to produce these documents would I consider it suspicious. I’ve had people in my life with concussions and it’s not always straightforward in recovery. Wait til you have real information. Also you need a new nanny as you don’t trust this one. It remains to be seen as to who that’s most about at this moment.
