Another is meeting each kid where they are to ensure all children receive an appropriate education.[/quote] But that is the exact opposite of the current, equity theory of “cooperative learning,” which seeks to eliminate both G&T and remedial programs, and lump all students into one classroom. Under cooperative learning, the schools eliminate separate G&T programs so they can use the G&T students as unpaid tutors for the remedial and special ed students. Proponents of cooperative learning point to studies that show a whole school’s mean test scores can increase through cooperative learning (although the scores of high achievers will decrease). Cooperative learning is touted as more equitable.[/quote]
