The FCYBL is better for preparing kids to play team-oriented high-school basketball with sophisticated offensive sets and changing defenses. AAU is much, much better for building toughness and athleticism. But to those who reflexively trash the FCYBL, just keep in mind that a former FCYBL player (for Herndon) got a Duke offer this week. And another former FCYBL player (for Arlington) was the top recruit last year for the UConn women's team. It's an excellent environment for young players to learn the right lessons on the court as they prepare for larger grassroots stages.[/quote] Yes, players play FCBYL for fun in the off season.
