in playoffs. Again this is not rec basketball. Obviously, some of the haters here don't know competitive basketball. I'm NOT affiliated with the Vienna Coach
Do coaches or does the league control roster sizes? Are all FCYBL rostered players "picked" or assigned? As a coach for another sport I never wanted more players on the bench than who could actually play in a game because it creates playing time inequities, making it impossible to play everyone at least half the game, which for ages like U12 and below, playing time is more developmentally appropriate than win-at-all-costs. Is FCYBL a developmental league? If so, they should limit roster sizes to 10.

Hi Coach!

FCBLY is the soccer equivalent of the suburban friendship league with the only difference being that a bunch of the players also play high level travel too.
Are you drunk?
I'm sorry your kid is really wrapped up in county. The level of play is nowhere near the top AAU teams
It's not a direct comparison. The FCYBL is better for preparing kids to play team-oriented high-school basketball with sophisticated offensive sets and changing defenses. AAU is much, much better for building toughness and athleticism.
But to those who reflexively trash the FCYBL, just keep in mind that a former FCYBL player (for Herndon) got a Duke offer this week. And another former FCYBL player (for Arlington) was the top recruit last year for the UConn women's team. It's an excellent environment for young players to learn the right lessons on the court as they prepare for larger grassroots stages.

Anonymous wrote:But your point is moot b/c that particular coach has been not playing kids all season long, even in blowouts. And there is no way a good coach can't get every kid a few minutes of play time, even in a competitive game. Come on, that's ridic.
