Food was essential and people could enjoy it and have favorite dishes but it wasn't something you obsessed over. They also had excellent portion control. Amazingly so. The whole concept of being foodies was very strange to them when the concept started emerging in the 1990s. There had been gourmands but the food cult took things to a different level. [/quote]
