Not UVA.  harvard.  But the reason should be clear.  Tufts is a private university and can do whatever it wants and creates whatever majors it wants. UVA is a state flagship.  It's role is different - it is supposed t provide the Commonwealth with workers trained in a number of fields such as nursing, education, library science and many others.  Those are traditionally low paying careers. There are many such majors at UVA.[/quote]

This report takes into account expected salary by major when calculating the value add for given schools.  In other words, do graduates earn more or less than would be expected based on the majors they choose and by how much?  UVA's "Value Add" is NEGATIVE $2,400.  Tufts is PLUS $5,700.

It is not an undergraduate major option.  No undergraduates receive degrees in library science.
