Yes, it's called Clarksburg ES #9 because that's how MCPS refers to not-yet-named schools, but it is the elementary school that MCPS is building in Cabin Branch.

All of Cabin Branch is assigned to Neelsville MS and Seneca Valley HS:

If some Cabin Branch students were sent to Clarksburg ES instead of the ES in Cabin Branch, that would create a gratuitous split articulation at Clarksburg ES, and I can't think of anybody who would benefit from that.

But maybe you're thinking of Pulte's proposed development on Ten Mile Creek, on the other side of Clarksburg Road from Cabin Branch? That is assigned to Rocky Hill MS/Clarksburg HS. However, students in that development wouldn't be in the walk zone for the ES in Cabin Branch anyway, at least not without a crossing guard.

Their goal is to get Clarksburg ES all the way down to below its capacity of 311, so we need to see just how small of an area would comprise ~300 ES students. Everyone else (projected to be 455 students overcapacity in 2023) would easily fit within the new school (capacity 721). [/quote]

Don't assume it's safe. The planning department rep specifically said no one knows yet which kids will be attending the school. Besides, you have to remember, that they are not assigning students just based on geography. They are also looking at other factors, including demographics. I think the only thing that is safe to assume is that Clarksburg cluster elementary schools and Seneca Valley cluster elementary schools will be part of the study.[/quote]

That said, I think if they were to split Cabin Branch, it would most likely be that part of the neighborhood will attend the new Cabin Branch elementary school and the other part will be assigned to an existing school that already articulates to Neelsville/Seneca Valley- like Gibbs.
