Fair enough, but since the context is the presidential election, it’s safe to assume that we are talking about federal income tax, not sales tax or property taxes or other such things over which the federal government has no direct control.  So yes, only the rich pay federal income tax.[/quote]

Income taxes aren't even the only taxes the federal government levies. Something like 3/4 of people pay payroll taxes, but we always hear only about income taxes because rich people want to whine about the progressive taxes that they pay and not the regressive taxes that hit normal people harder. It's propaganda.[/quote]

But President Trump wanted to cut payroll taxes too, and the Dems ridiculed that as well.  You’re loosing this argument.[/quote]
