I don't think there is a consensus, but I support inbound families sending their kids to Hardy. I recognize that this could reduce slots for OOB students. What happens to those students is a somewhat separate discussion, and one that should necessarily include those families.

This fall, for the 2011-12 school year, no OOB students were admitted to Deal.  If in bounds students start enrolling in Hardy in signficant numbers, (as started happening with Deal about years ago), the principal won't advertise any OOB slots in the lottery.  No new OOB will be admitted.  The current students will work their way through (it's only a 3 year school), and Palisades/ Key / Stoddert will have "their" school.  With Deal, the sequence for reform was:

appoint strong principal (happened pre-Rhee)
renovate building
seek IB accredidation (idea of principal above)
have a strong school with quite a few OOB in lottery
have a strong school with no OOB in lottery

Hardy has the building.  It now needs a strong principal.  No one's saying much about the principal who started in 2011-12????  How is she?[/quote]
