The poster who claims his/her Thanksgiving spread for 20 costs $1,000 and that making a lasagna is an $80 enterprise.
It sound right to me. The cheeses alone can be $50 when I make lasagna. $1000 is easy to spend when you include alcohol. How much do YOU spend on these things?
For a family of four, a basic weeknight lasagna costs me around 20 bucks, tops. Boxed noodles, jar sauce, mozarrella and ricotta from the grocery store dairy section. I suppose if I made one with fancy cheeses, meat, fresh pasta, etc. it could reach 80. For the same family, a traditional Thanksgiving turkey dinner probably costs a couple hundred bucks, including alcohol and appetizers. It could reach $1,000 if we're hosting friends or extended family.
