Mine do not. 4thand6th grade. They could always sit still, pay attention and listen intently to teachers and coaches. Both could concentrate at tasks. Most ADHD kids I know were given constant access to iPads, iPhones, video games and TV from a young age. Dinner out? Here’s my iPhone. Car trip? Watch movies or play on phone non-stop. It’s creating socially f-caked up kids that can’t self modulate or sit still.
And yet my 24 YO has ADHD and grew up before smart phones were a thing, watched no TV until age 2 and very little after that, and we’ve never had a video gaming system. She also never had behavior issues. ADHD presents itself in various ways.
+1 PP is not well educated with average children is my guess. My 14 year-old DS with ADHD almost never (if ever) saw an electronic screen before the age of 2 and very very rarely after that. We have no iPads and there were no video games until he was 13. Nice try, though. Also, we didn't even try medication until high school, and now he only takes when he has big tests. And don't you all jump in and tell me that he doesn't really have it. He does. Quite severely. But medication doesn't sit well with him. Fortunately, he's exceptionally smart and can compensate enough to get decent grades. Otherwise, he just manages the best he can. Development and maturity has made a big difference.
