[/quote] Yes, 98% of federal cases result in a plea bargain. 1% go to trial and 1% are dismissed, but the prosecutor has to offer a plea agreement. Hoppe could plead guilty to the charges against her which would result in a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years in federal prison, so there is no option for the judge to give her a reduced sentence.
