There was no tree cover to shade the hiking trail or cool down the atmosphere/land around them. They were walking in a arid desert in 103F with a baby. Voluntarily. [/quote] The timeline isn't actually clear. We don't really know where they went or at what time of day, or the temperature. It was a hot day. But we don't know when they died. We don't know if their deaths were primarily or secondarily heat related or entirely something else. [/quote]
