Can we have a discussion about why the Trump women who are literal billionaires and grew up with access to the finest ateliers since birth are so...tacky? How can you even make a famous gown Audrey Hepburn wore tacky?
They are relatively new money. They are gaudy, lack any real substance or charisma. They are on the same level as the Kardashians.
It's not an excuse. You can be new money and have impeccable taste -- socialites have used great taste to get in with the old guard for generations. But it takes a very practiced eye and an a lot of restraint. Nancy Reagan was actually pretty successful at this. She found a way to fit right in with the old money Republican women even though she was a child actress from NYC who had spent years in Hollywood. She understood how to make that look authentic for her. After all, it's just costuming. I'm not saying you have to do this -- I don't actually care if politicians or their families are "old money." I like it when people do their own thing. Michelle Obama never tried to look like old money. Neither did Betty Ford or Rosalynn Carter. They were just themselves and it worked for them. But Trump's family, but especially Ivanka, seems to desperately want to emulate that old money look and it always looks so fake and bad to me. I think she must have very low self esteem and not really know how to simply be herself. She takes after her dad in that way -- they are both always trying to play a role and not very well. Yet they fail up. I don't know.
