This is one big game of chess and ECNL is running out of moves
ECNL is fine for now but MLSN is the top league for boys. If MLSN cared about dominating the youth soccer market they easily could. ECNL girls is also fine for now but parents are starting to figure out that GA is the same thing. The only difference is the clubs involved. The big unknown right now is if/how NWSL will partner with youth soccer. A working framework has been established by MLS and implemented via MLSN. Logically if NWSL was to follow MLSs footsteps they’d partner with GA and create NWSLN. If this was to happen there would be 20+ ECNL to GA defections year one.
That bolded part is so wrong.....
792 D1 verbal commitments for the 2025 class & breakdown by platform. #ECNL -575 (72.6%) #GirlsAcademy -166 (21%) All Others -27 (3.4%) 🇨🇦 -24 (3%) There’s a twitter handle that is tracking all this.
How many players are in ECNL and how many are in GA? The above numbers are meaningless without the denominators.
No matter how you try to defend it, there's not 3-4 times the number of girls in ECNL than GA. Maybe 25% more girls. But over three times the number of D1 committs. And that ratio gets more pronounced next year as the better teams move from GA to ECNL....
Keep trying to spread fud. ECNL added 4 clubs and GA added 10 the number of college commits from each league wont change.
Bookmark this and come back in a year and you'll eat your words.
Ok ECNL homer. Oh by the way why is there so many female soccer players in the transfer portal? Since so many of them came from ECNL clubs is it because they're just not good enough?
Most kids want to post commitment pics on ig and they take offers even when school is not a good fit. Some of these kids know they will be entering the transfer portal before a signing.
So they know that they're not good enough for a team and planning to join the transfer portal before they even attend classes at a college? That makes no sense.
They “know” they don’t like the school but get FOMO. The transfer portal has all kind of players. Didn’t you see UNC top players transferring to other colleges? So don’t assume that only kids that don’t get playing time are the only ones in the portal.
The UNC players left because several went pro and there was a rumor their coach was retiring. HS players with a plan to play at one school only to join the transfer portal to join another school makes no sense unless you're in jr college. More likely ECNL club and coach connections get them in the door. When they step on the field it is painfully obvious that they don't belong so they enter the transfer portal.
