Normally when I psychoanalyze people I'm not all "So, tell me about your mother," but with Mack I really wanted to know what her relationship with her father was like. Because damn that's a LOW bar you set for a father to say all you want out of him is to SHOW UP.  What about being a positive example? What about being open-minded?  What about being able to provide for your child? What about being able to give good advice?  Damn. When I think of my dad, he didn't just show up.  He sometimes spent three hours a night teaching me math when I couldn't understand my teacher.  He taught me how to iron, to check the oil, to strip wallpaper and hang it, how to be a valuable employee, how to do my taxes, I could go on and on.  JUST SHOW UP?  That's just such an incredibly low bar. [/quote]
