Would you go to nyc this weekend? I had every intention of going but everyone I talk to thinks I’m nuts to even consider going.
Are you nuts? They sending National Guard to secure quarantine.
I have to travel through a small portion of NY to get to my kid's college. I swear I'm going to freaking hold my breath. Considering adding an hour or two to my trip and re-routing through rural Pennsylvania and straight into CT on 84. Other alternative is gas up well south of NYC, continue through without stopping anywhere in the NJ/NY/CT metro area, and not stop again until I am in and around Hartford. Have to stay overnight and staying with my sister. No way I'm going to a hotel
You keep posting over and over again. Go get your darn kid and calm down.
Yeah, honestly PP (who is going to pick up her kid from college), I say this with genuine concern... I think you might need to talk to someone. It is reasonable to be concerned and practice precaution, but what you are demonstrating is not reasonable. You shouldn't have to be in such a state of panic so I hope that you are able to find comfort somehow, whether through talking to a doctor for a prescription or self-isolating somewhere.
Fauci yesterday: Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, issued a disturbing warning during a White House briefing Tuesday: Americans everywhere need to change the way they live their lives. Right now. "We would like the country to realize that as a nation, we can't be doing the kinds of things we were doing a few months ago. It doesn't matter if you're in a state that has no cases or one case," Fauci said, referring Americans to the new federal Coronavirus.gov website for details on precautions to take at home, at work and out in the world. So yeah, it's me
Have you actually looked at the guidance on the website? The advice on travel still depend on several factors- the destination, your age and overall health. Nothing on there would send me into the tailspin of hysteria like you seem to be in.
I'm in a reasonable state of caution, as per the bolded in Fauci's statement. He's begging people to make the necessary changest NOW. I will listen to Fauci, not you.
I'm not asking you to listen to me, just asking if you have actually looked at the website you posted. It has some really practical advice that goes beyond that one statement you are focused on. But if you're not comfortable driving to NY, don't! No one is forcing you to go and it seems like it would be better for your sanity to stay home.
I'm the PP who said I had genuine concern (I'm not the author of any other responses.) Reasonable would be to yes, pick up your kid and not have him use a train or plane to return home. But where you are veering to irrational is that you don't even want to drive your car through New York and considered driving around it. And stopping for gas is extremely low risk, if you take a few easy precautions.
