Agreed and I used to love traveling around the US and seeing National Parks, etc. I now only plan international vacations for the exact reasons you stated. It's such a better value for the money.

As for India, I lived in India for a few years. I get why the PP said they hated it. The worst thing about it was the air pollution. It's something that you just don't understand unless you go there. It's that bad. But I loved traveling all around India but you cannot do it on a shoestring budget if you want anything that resembles travel expectations in the West. Else you will be stuck with accommodations with bucket showers, no AC, squatty toilets/no tp, etc. [/quote]
