"In the moments after a 6-year-old shot his teacher in a Virginia classroom last January, the boy made statements including “I shot that (expletive) dead,” and “I did it. I got my mom’s gun last night,”
This kid is headed for a life of crime. He needs to be removed from the home and put in some kind of military school. Yes, even at 6 years old.
No, not military school. Berating these kids and making them feel like crap for behaviors beyond their control is not the solution. The kid needs intensive, significant, compassionate 24x7 residential treatment with skilled therapists that specialize in young children.
And this exists for 6 year olds where?
This is the one in MD https://cc-md.org/programs/st-vincents-villa/ Kidlink is in Va https://kidlinknetwork.com/our-virginia-locations/ And if the family has military ties https://www.barryrobinson.org
And how many of these are available for publicly supported wards of the state or children in the foster care program? How many have rates that fit within the budget of what the state can provide after they remove the child from their home? Because neither the mother nor the grandfather who is currently caring for the child can afford any of those programs.
