I remember that story. The mom is some piece of work, too. Had another kid then facilitated a relationship so that kid could be preyed on too.

For those saying some other home/family should take the VA kid in, he strangled an adult woman at 5 and shot another at 6. How many are willing to take in such a dangerous kid? Even in a facility, how easily do they find staff?

The VA kid and his father both have very low set ears which tends to track with spath spectrum traits.

This kid is headed for a life of crime.

He needs to be removed from the home and put in some kind of military school. Yes, even at 6 years old.

No, not military school. Berating these kids and making them feel like crap for behaviors beyond their control is not the solution. The kid needs intensive, significant, compassionate 24x7 residential treatment with skilled therapists that specialize in young children.

And this exists for 6 year olds where?

This is the one in MD

Kidlink is in Va

And if the family has military ties

None of these are for a 6 yr old.

Disagree with you and not in the mood to explain why I know. Whether you believe me or not is your choice. Suffice to say these facilities exist for young children. However I will point out that arguing over age acceptance or payment issue is not the stumbling block. The bigger issue is finding an available bed. The waitlists are long.

Why did they place the child with the grandfather? I would think the family trauma would be a contributing factor to his behavior issues. Why didn’t they place him with a family that didn’t have any contact/relationship with his biological family? This kid needs a fresh start…..

Seems like he witnessed dv in addition to the porn and violent video game exposure.

Good God, what went on in that kid's home? On another site a lot of the family's socials were linked, grandma, mom and bio dad all seemed to spend time engaging with the kid, egging him on and calling him "Badness." He groped a little girl's privates and chased kids on the playground with a belt. In family media he seems to have been exposed to porn and to play violent games like GTA alone on an ipad when preschool age. Most little kids adore their early teachers, this one strangled the K teacher and shot the 1st grade teacher. How can a kid so young be SO messed up?

I’m thinking there must be some sexual abuse going on as well and violence.

Just read the article.

Kid is a sociopath. Mom is taking the easy way out and I cannot blame her.

The family had/has a lot of pics of the kid online. He is surprisingly small and looks young/his age. What is striking is that he has very low set ears, that often seems to track with spath spectrum traits.

And how many of these are available for publicly supported wards of the state or children in the foster care program? How many have rates that fit within the budget of what the state can provide after they remove the child from their home? Because neither the mother nor the grandfather who is currently caring for the child can afford any of those programs.

All of them. Because in order to be admitted the facility wants to be guaranteed of payment and they want to be able to show success. That means either school district funding via IEP or the child has to be on Medicare. That's the irony of these RTCs---if you have private insurance the help is not available to you. They don't take private insurance because then the insurance dictates when treatment ends, not when the doctor says you are ready to be released.
