I’ve finally finished reading the debate apparently between the same two PPs. One of them (or many?) keeps saying that the war stops if Russia pulls out of Ukraine. However, I think we can agree that Russia will not do it voluntarily. So, what happens if they don’t, for another year or two or five? I keep being told that the war will be over in a year because Russia will be defeated. I honestly don’t see it happening. Look at Palestine, it’s nearly not as powerful yet it continues bringing significant destruction to Israel. I just would like to know what the longer term plan is. Will there be enough support for Ukraine for another say 3 years? Will Russia be kicked out of it physically, and if so, is it possible without involving nato directly ie sending troops? What if Russia isn’t kicked out by a certain date? Look at Syria, nothing is back to normal there. I am just terrified at the thought of it all going on and on for decades I guess.
Hmm. Not really the same to PP's, but whatever. No, go back in the thread - I believe Russia's trajectory is not sustainable. Let me know if you can't find it.
It’s not sustainable long term but N Korea was able to withstand the west for decades. There may not be enough time and resources to wait for Russia to pull out/be crushed. I personally think there will be another Palestine/N Korea setup, with a bit of Iran thrown in. I don’t know how sustainable it is to keep the sanctions but I think most of them will stay for decades. Who knows what will eventually grow on that giant field
