Well, there's also the women who stay with the physically or psychologically abusive guys either because they're scared or because of some defect in their own psychology that makes that sort of thing attractive to them. Seeing the 10% and the abusers get women makes some segment of the other guys (who probably regard themselves as being mostly decent but invisible to women) easy marks for grifters selling PUA tips. These dupes lack perspective. They don't notice the assholes who don't female attention. They don't notice that lots of other people, good and bad, have trouble meeting guys. They see non-representative slices of the population in the media - movie stars, athletes, rock stars, porn - and all of that seeps in.

Anyway, there are a lot of guys who fundamentally don't trust that being better people will actually make them more attractive to women. They notice the dicks with a lot of women. And they notice the nice guys women ignore. Regardless of the percentages, a confirmation bias sets in. And this makes them easy marks for the guys selling PUA strategies. [/quote]
