I am practical and would love a 3 carat diamond engagement ring in my preferred cut from the man I loved IF he could afford it. You can, OP. Go ahead and buy the ring and propose to your beloved. She'll wear it for the rest of her life and it will remind her of you. Congratulations, OP!
Seriously, I hate to break it to you and OP, but, no, if you're cool with a $30k ring, then you're not practical. This thread reminds me of the the "we make 400k HHI and we're middle class." FFS, if you like extravagant things, just admit it. Same with OP and his "she's not high maintenance." Women who are not high maintenance don't have a "my perfect ring is ..." Whatever. I think I just need to get off of this thread.
I think you do, too, pp. You are taking this way too personally.
LOL. PP here. Yes, I am because I just spent the weekend in a dying rust belt city around people who have nothing and have little hope things are going to look up for them (maybe their kids if they are able to get scholarships). So, yeah, seeing what I saw over the weekend and then reading all of these claims of being "practical" and "girl next door" but being okay with the kind of extravagance that is a $30k ring, well, it does upset me. It should upset lots of people. Even if OP is fake, the other "I'm practical but I own a $30k ring" aren't. It's fine if they want a $30k ring and have the money to buy it, but it's ridiculous that they still see themselves as practical when there is nothing practical about a ring that costs that much (unless it's the ring of Gyges, then maybe it might have some practical use).
