If someone says "Maryland" or U Maryland" they are talking about College Park. The other universities are called "UMBC" or other more specific names.[/quote] Exactly the same thing with University of Wisconsin, University of Illinois. University of California -- everyone knows that these refer to the flagship, but some people get uptight about not including the city.[/quote] Not really for California, Berkeley and Los Angeles are both flagships.
