You would hurt your child to report an issue that has nothing to do with you personally.  "Sally, I know you loved Jen and that she was your best friend at school.  But we live in Bethesda and they live in Gaithersburg and the rules say she cannot go to your school.  So I know you are upset, but it was Mommy who got Jen kicked out. "
