I think she's just stupid.  I have my own ears pierced but I am well aware that it is only acceptable for cultural reasons.  It is absolutely permanent damage to the flesh of my ears.  It's perfectly acceptable in our culture and I think it looks good on me.  However, there is no doubt that it is deliberately damaging your body as it was created.  Hence it is mutilation.  And I think doing that to a small baby is outrageous.  I'm not similarly outraged about putting an organic matter (lemon juice) on a baby's head in the summer [b]as there will be no damage to the kid from that act[/b].  However, the reasoning behind it is very worrying and I do think that OP needs therapy if she's serious.[/quote]

Actually, there could be damage.  Babies should wear hats when in the sun, since their skin is so delicate and burns easily.

And I agree, her reasoning is messed up.  Babies with light brown hair are perfectly lovely and no one is going to like her child less because she's not blonde.  The OP has some seriously messed up ideas about looks that she needs to work on before they damage her little girl.     [/quote]
