Strikes a chord with me. Last time I flew I printed the boarding pass and the ticket agent told his coworker “oh you have a home made boarding pass”[/quote]

This is me, too. Maybe we're all just extra anxious. But I've been in those airport lines with a dying phone battery, and it's something I never want to experience again. Yeah, yeah, I should just remember to charge my phone, but it's actually easier to print the pass out a day before when I check in and am thinking about it, and it's as simple as hitting the print button.
