The Chesapeake region was well represented in the 16 Club Division (two CH teams at the top): https://results.advancedeventsystems.com/event/PTAwMDAwNDE0OTM90/divisions/197319/standings Does any of them get a bid?
I don’t think there are bids available for the club division. It’s not one of the divisions for the USAV Girls Junior National Championship tournament which requires all teams to earn a bid to enter. USAV introduced a new end of season tournament called the USA Volleyball Girls Junior Club Championship this year which does not require a bid to play. https://usavolleyball.org/event/2026-usa-volleyball-girls-junior-club-championship/ It is held separately from GJNC and replaces the Patriot division from the past few years (except for 18s who will still have a Patriot division).
So, what is the point of playing in a qualifier, where you cannot qualify even if you are the top team in the division? Does that explain why the CH teams dominated that division? Good teams didn't really care?
There are lots of multi-day tournaments that aren’t qualifiers that are popular nevertheless. Think Cap Hill, Volley by the James, East Coast Championship in Pittsburgh, etc. Traveling to play in a 3-day tournament to play against teams from a wider geographic area can be a highlight for teams with little hope of earning a bid, and Philly would be a decent option for CHRVA teams since you don’t need to fly to get there. I understand there are folks on these forums that feel that teams like that should lower costs and stick to regional tournaments, but personally I think there is value in the experience, even if there are no bids at stake.
