Indiana. My mom and grandparents were from there and I spent summers there. Nicest people ever!
We moved a lot while I was growing up. I have another half dozen places to compare Indiana to in terms of living there--not just visiting-- and Hoosiers are my least favorite people. White Hoosiers are the most racist people I've ever encountered. (I'm white.)They are incredibly insular; anyone who isn't from Indiana, Kentucky, or parts of Ohio is suspect. It's also the least intellectual place I've ever lived. Goes to show you--different strokes for different folks.
So true about those different strokes, because I’d live in Indiana or Ohio in a heartbeat. (No experience with Kentucky.) I travel out there a good bit, and I’ve never been treated poorly. The people there are kinder and more genuine than in the DC region. There’s also a slower pace of life, so people aren’t as aggressive or rushed
