We have been seeing psychiatry at cheapie center for years and it was expectantly expensive (though the docs were excellent) The silver lining for us is I sent a message to our pediatrician bc we need a refill. Not only did they refill it but offered to take over the adderall for our son! I then reached out to my doc at one medical and since it’s a continuing med they also agreed to take it over for me. I’ll miss seeing our docs there but the pricing was outrageous. I think around $300 or maybe 350 for a 30min visit. That’s 1200/year x 2 (for both me and my son). So 2400 annually saved for my family in this debacle by getting our pcp to fill it. Def reach out to your doc and see how they can help. Sorry to everyone involved here. I only picked the Chesapeake center bc of Kathleen nadeau (I read a book of hers that was eye opening) and then started care at the Chesapeake center. I didn’t realize it was family run or corrupt which is clearly is. Beware of crooks and charlatans even though who have published! I’m so disappointed that our care has stopped. Our sons doc has been there for years so he had to know someone was not right. But who knows.
Many of us have always used our kids’ pediatricians to diagnose and manage their ADHD meds - which is easy and efficient. Except on DCUM, I’ve never heard of people spending so much money and time on the ADHD meds process unless there are complications like a mental health co morbidity. And even when a co morbidity arose, pediatricians stayed involved and were back ups for prescriptions and getting insurance authorization. I’m sorry for everyone who is struggling with the loss of their providers with no notice.
Your privilege is showing big time. If you are relying solely on a pediatrician to manage your kid's meds for ADHD, you are either 1) not dealing with comorbidites (as you say), 2) your kid is likely not being managed well.
