Our pediatrician was a toxic individual who believed all kids with SN belong in their parents' basements and will not amount to much. Yet she is "very respected" in the local autism community. Chesapeake was a godsend to us. I have not had a pediatrician since DS was 12, we go to specialists in case he's sick.

So 2400 annually saved for my family in this debacle by getting our pcp to fill it. Def reach out to your doc and see how they can help. Sorry to everyone involved here. I only picked the Chesapeake center bc of Kathleen nadeau (I read a book of hers that was eye opening) and then started care at the Chesapeake center. I didn’t realize it was family run or corrupt which is clearly is. Beware of crooks and charlatans even though who have published! I’m so disappointed that our care has stopped. Our sons doc has been there for years so he had to know someone was not right. But who knows.

Many of us have always used our kids’ pediatricians to diagnose and manage their ADHD meds - which is easy and efficient. Except on DCUM, I’ve never heard of people spending so much money and time on the ADHD meds process unless there are complications like a mental health co morbidity. And even when a co morbidity arose, pediatricians stayed involved and were back ups for prescriptions and getting insurance authorization.

I’m sorry for everyone who is struggling with the loss of their providers with no notice.

Your privilege is showing big time. If you are relying solely on a pediatrician to manage your kid's meds for ADHD, you are either 1) not dealing with comorbidites (as you say), 2) your kid is likely not being managed well.

DP. I think my goal would be to keep the pediatrician in touch with the psychiatrist so that the ped could handle meds if needed or at least felt comfortable bridging the prescription if anything happened. I have always prioritized finding pediatricians who are willing to talk over the issues and work as a team. But I agree that it is not “easy and efficient”!

Respectfully, if you have a kid whose ADHD can be diagnosed and managed by a pediatrician- good for you. Many of us started there and had pediatricians who botched diagnoses, missed mental health complications, or made complications like anxiety worse. Kindly have some gratitude that your kid's needs were more easily managed and that you do not need to spend this kind of money to keep your kid okay and keep your comments to yourself.

I have a kid whose pediatrician has refused to handle ADHD meds because of co morbid condition! We don’t use Chesapeake but my sympathies are VERY much with these families. It took us 5 months to be seen by our current provider (and that was after hours of me calling every provider on our pediatrician’s “recommendation” list. It’s rough out there for complex cases!

+1 the notion that it is only on DCUM that folks go OON for psychiatric medications is ridiculous. We were recommended two Chesapeake providers for our kid by our wonderful psychologist who has never led us astray. We ended up going with another provider that was also recommended but I absolutely feel for all these families that have been left in the lurch. What an awful and unnecessary situation they have been put in.

Do you former employees have access to your email and records? Just realized if something like this happened and I was blocked from my EMR I'd have no way of contacting patients
Dr nadeau is 💯 to blame here. First she entrusted her business to her daughter and husband who is shady as hell. Then she decides to abruptly close the center? Langdon was fired twice by her mom. Once in mid Dec and after that we got assurances that it was a family dispute. Langdon was back and Kathleen stepped down. Then late Dec Langdon forwarded an email from her mom firing her saying she wanted things to be different. Kathleen then closed the practice and says she will pay staff from her own personal funds. She’s completely off the rails and making terrible decisions. Even before this she was horrible to work with. Very mean and condescending to admin staff and anyone she didn’t need something from. Sure she’s written books but it’s just a narcissistic exercise to stroke her huge ego. Shes over 80 years old and should retire. She has completely ruined her previously excellent reputation over greed and nepotism. Something is very off her. And her reputation is dead. Sad. But what’s more sad are the hundreds of people who trusted her who she treated like paychecks or trash. I hope that family does not get away with this. It’s truly despicable and unethical. I hope she is held accountable (together w Langdon and Gonzalo)
woah-- she fired her daughter and then her daughter came back and she stepped down? and then she just shut it down? this all seems bizarre.

I'm so sorry- this feels so bizarrely rushed. I'm assuming all providers will try to keep their patients in care at new practices? I work at a nearby practice and know at least one psychiatrist is joining, if not more. If these reports above are true that providers also had no notice I'm guessing they're all scrambling to find their next professional home ( or build their own practice)

A few providers are going to Alvord Baker

Do you know which ones?

I got an email saying Morris MD was there already.
