- Notre Dame wants to stay independent, and enjoys the benefits of that status, including the (significant) financial benefits.  Fine, but this is the other side of that coin.  In a tiebreaker, maybe they lose to a team with a conference behind it.  Gotta take the good with the bad.  [/quote]
