I am shocked about how many parents on here don't care if their kid ruins another child's belief in Santa. It's so sad that there is such a lack of caring that some child's childhood belief in Santa can be ruined by some kid that thinks it's his right to dispel this belief. Please have some compassion for this childhood belief and don't let your kid ruin it for others. Please!!!!
It's not that we don't care, it's that kids are sort of logical. You try to explain to a kid why he should let his friends believe that Santa exists if that isn't the truth. Kids fixate on the truth. They don't tell their friends about Santa because they are mean, they tell them because they believe that telling the truth is the right thing to do. At least that was my thinking in grade school when I was telling everyone Santa isn't real. I wasn't trying to make the other kids upset, I thought that they should know the truth. I'm not going to dilute my kid's sense of justice just because you think believing in Santa is cute or whatever. I actually don't even understand this whole cult of "NO THEY MUST BELIEVE!!!" stuff. It just leads to disappointment for kids.
