Thread with good potential, totally derailed.
What makes for a good school? OP is clearly interested in policy changes, but many are/would be satisfied with demographic changes alone. And even when it comes to policy changes, most that I've see championed on DCUM are just defacto demographic changes. What's a good policy change that would amount to more than just shuffling students around?
Adults employed at the school generally having their act together and being average or good at their jobs, whatever those jobs may be. Building in decent condition, not overcrowded, repairs reasonably timely instead of having to hassle GSA 1000x to get even minor things done. Higher level academic content taught to however many kids are ready for it. Not just the names of the courses sounding high level, the kids have to actually learn it and demonstrate on an external metric such as CAPE or any other external test. Compliant with IDEA and all other applicable laws. I think these things are doable regardless of demographics if the adults employed by the school were doing a good job. That's a big part of what's missing here.
