Wow, someone on this thread really has an agenda. Not sure what this has to do with 2026 commitments which should be starting up soon. For the types of players that will be contacted in early September, they most likely are the driven athletes who work out and play lacrosse all year long anyway. Is there going to be some competitive drama on a top D1 roster? Of course as it was on the club and HS team. The benefit however can be huge, help with admissions, tutors, social group on day one. Playing D1 lacrosse does not seem as stress inducing as say joining a sorority at the University of Alabama.
High school or club lacrosse doesn't dominate a player's life like it does at a top D1 program. All of the players at top D1s are top club players who are driven and play the sport year round. It's not a stressful experience per se but can be a depressing one if the player isn't getting meaningful minutes, is being ignored by the coaching staff, or has no time outside the sport to explore other things the school has to offer.
There isn't anything incorrect about this response, but another response is "Nobody Cares, Work Harder". These kids are entering real life, and they shouldn't be shielded from the reality that people they play or work for expect results. If they can't provide the results, it doesn't make them a bad person, but there will be ramifications such as less/no playing time or not being the lacrosse queen bee anymore. Yes, it can feel bad, but life is hard. There is also a transfer portal available now. I wouldn't recommend a kid going to a school with a plan to leave in two years if it doesn't work out, but it is an option. They shouldn't be afraid to go for a Top 20 school if it's an option for them. The OP is painting an overly depressing picture of high-level lacrosse, and I agree there appears to be an agenda. Maybe they have a 2026 kid who's a Top 20 bubble player, and they're trying to suppress others' interest??? Who knows....
