Why are we limiting this “loser mentality” to youth sports? How are dmv area pro teams over the last, I dunno…30 years? Redskins & Wizards everyone comes here gets paid and loses. Dc united hasn’t been relevant in how long? I lived + coached in B'more before coming back to the dmv, it’s a joke in terms of the difference in mentality. Everyone in dmv more concerned w their drip, jobs, cars…in Bmore u put your head down and work. It’s not even close the difference in just how people act. In the dmv everyone wants to be something they ain’t, mo.
This is about the dumbest comment I've seen. On this thread anyway. First, it conveniently leaves out the Nats and Caps who have won championships in the last 6 years. And, more importantly, what could the regional mentality, if it existed, possibly have anything to do with the pro sports teams? Almost none of the people involved in any of them are from here. Although I'm definitely with you that Dan Snyder wanted to be something he ain't. Take a look at the MaxPreps top 25 high school basketball ranking and you'll see 4 teams from the DMV: Paul VI, Gonzaga, Bishop O'Connell, and (DC public) Jackson-Reed. I don't see any Baltimore teams on that list and that used to be a hot bed for local basketball. I guess they're more concerned with their drip these days. This is a good example of why coaches might be better served to listen to people offering advice rather than being so defensive about their experience.
