I’m not going to name names but that’s a frequent flyer on this message board (and that’s nothing) and it was a scrimmage.

Internal to BSC?

How can the board thing that its ok to put something like that as the highlight with the Coach yelling like that? Put some music over it?

The parents were so quiet 😁😆

This thread should change to Crazy, Screaming parents. I see a lot more of those compared to the crazy screaming coaches.

Communicating with volume is not the same as screaming.

Coaches that scream the same phrase over and over (e.g. what are you doing kid) are not effective. Communicating advise/corrections during a game is effective. Screaming at kids who are late to a game when their parent got in an accident is humiliating and unnecessary.

There are coaches who berate the player and screaming and yelling just because.

You have to be able to separate the 2. I don’t mind those who yell at my kid when she messes up or expecting more or challenging her. U have to be able to separate the message and the tone.

If you and your kid never wants to get yell at and want coach to only speak to you nicely, elite level of any sport isn’t a place for you. People will walk away from the same coach with different experience.

There's a difference between yelling (reasonable minds can disagree on whether it's an effective tool) and berating (no need to call the kids names--zero value in that).

They yell more than any I know including SC at Bethesda. What do you think MJ would say about the subject? Or Tom Brady? Or Tiger Woods? Or Roger Federer? To be the best, you have to know how to take criticism, good and bad. Otherwise, play Rec.

You're right. Screaming at 12-15 year old kids totally makes sense. It's the only these kids will reach their potential. No one has ever learned or been pushed to greatness without a little abuse. Oh wait...

How in the world did this thread about Screaming Coaches become about parents, DMV or anything else?

Screaming Coaches are screaming coaches and there’s NO excuse for it.

Love how certain coaches or parents are trying to deflect about Screaming Coaches and blame it on something else.

Redskins & Wizards everyone comes here gets paid and loses. Dc united hasn’t been relevant in how long?

I lived + coached in B'more before coming back to the dmv, it’s a joke in terms of the difference in mentality. Everyone in dmv more concerned w their drip, jobs, cars…in Bmore u put your head down and work. It’s not even close the difference in just how people act. In the dmv everyone wants to be something they ain’t, mo.

This is about the dumbest comment I've seen. On this thread anyway. First, it conveniently leaves out the Nats and Caps who have won championships in the last 6 years. And, more importantly, what could the regional mentality, if it existed, possibly have anything to do with the pro sports teams? Almost none of the people involved in any of them are from here. Although I'm definitely with you that Dan Snyder wanted to be something he ain't.

Take a look at the MaxPreps top 25 high school basketball ranking and you'll see 4 teams from the DMV: Paul VI, Gonzaga, Bishop O'Connell, and (DC public) Jackson-Reed. I don't see any Baltimore teams on that list and that used to be a hot bed for local basketball. I guess they're more concerned with their drip these days.

This is a good example of why coaches might be better served to listen to people offering advice rather than being so defensive about their experience.
