With all their criticism of Dems, you'd think Republicans are offering a better-run, more effective alternative. Instead, they offer a presidential candidate who is facing multiple legal charges, a minority senate leader who has one foot in the grave, and a slim majority in the House that is characterized by infighting and disarray. Way to go, Repugs! Why should anyone believe you'd be able to deliver on anything but political theater?
Well said Nonetheless: McCarthy losing his position as speaker of the house because he chose to keep government running even though he must have known the MAGAs would never forgive him - reflects well on him and his legacy. He has done some crazy stuff but he chose to keep government running, which many MAGAs don’t want to do. I don’t think they realize that a healthy private sector requires a functioning public sector. Companies need educated healthy employees, safe roads and airways for transporting trades goods, safe food supplies, and many other functions of government.
Don't kid yourself. He wanted a shutdown. But it only works if you pass a bill to hand to the Senate, so they reject it and there's a stalemate so you point the finger at the other party. When you can't even do that, you are a failure. And he was a failure.
