I see this type of comment a lot and as someone trying to learn about VA schools I have to say it's not that easy. I'd like to get a general sense of these schools from people in the area, but there sooo much booster this, laughable that, my DC went to XXXXX U which led to spectacular college and career success and so on... The 80 million posts will contain a lot of useful insights but it's just so much fighting and anonymous self-promotion (to what end?) as soon as the discussion is about VA schools it's hard to see the forest for all the trees.

And yes, I realize I should look elsewhere and no-one promised me a rose garden (the collective DCUM self-dismissiveness is notable), I just happen to like crowd sourcing by reading discussion fora (and of course mentally filtering).
