With empty nesting then retirement looming, it may be helpful to look for a counselor who helps couples with money differences and this life transition. I'm sorry you are feeling sad, I think you both need to invest more in your marriage - communication, intimacy, recent shared experiences, etc., not just have money be a primary tie.
