Merrick Garland is NOT allowed to appoint David Weiss as special counsel. Garland is defying federal regulations. He only can name someone “outside the United States government” (28 CFR 600.03). So, the fix is in. Weiss will continue the obstruction & Biden protection.
Yada, yada, yada. Where was your outrage with Bill Barr when he did the exact same thing. Hypocrites.
The difference is that Weiss is under a cloud of suspicion because not only did he allow the statute of limitations to expire on some of Hunter Biden's most egregious crimes, but he crafted a deal that would have given him blanket immunity. A special counsel should be someone who is unassailable and truly independent. Weiss does not fit that bill. Durham was not under any cloud of suspicion nor did he have any connections to the investigation he was conducting. Garland is not a stupid person. This was a stupid move so we can only assume the fix is in.
Okay Sherlock. Weiss fit the bill and then he didn’t fit the bill. So he fit the bill when it was convenient for the republicans and their hit jobs, but then when he was towing the republican to-do list line, Weiss no longer fit the bill. Got it.
The conflict of interest is strong here. We have a member of Biden's DOJ investigating a member of Biden's family. Huge conflict. That is why the GOP has been calling for a QUALIFIED special counsel for months. Once Biden became president, there was a huge conflict of interest. That is why it needs to someone OUTSIDE the government.
The GOP called for Weiss to be elevated to Special Counsel. Garland complied and the right is still complaining. It is a shaggy dog with you people.
That was a year ago--there may have been some who called for it more recently, but the clamor was a year ago. That was BEFORE the Oversight Committee began to find so much troubling evidence. To appoint the SC now--when the plea agreement failed because of an astute judge, indicates that this will put the "investigation" behind closed doors and suppress the story. My prediction: Joe will not run but will pardon Hunter or arrange for his Dem successor to pardon him.
The evidence is only troubling if you listen to the people who have been lying to you for years. If you actually look at and read critically what is being presented, it is not even close to enough to be prosecutable or actionable.
